Oh noes! Blackface?! Just when I thought Japanese TV couldn't become even more of a train wreck. Is it bad, however, that I would have found the Louis Armstrong one highly entertaining if the guy wasn't corked-up like a minstrel show?

On the bright side, I now know how to write Obama in katakana.

Japan really takes racial stereotypes and put them into everything. I don't think they realize how offensive a lot of what they do really is to some people, hence you see a lot of this:

and this:

But then again, we live in America where these stereotypes are offensive to some people and the first lines from Autobot Jazz in "Transformers" was "What's crackin little bitches?"

This is marginally related: I had a dream last night that you, me, Nick, Jacob and Brian were hanging out at a cabin that belonged to an old craggy mountain man who was apparently your grandfather. We were sitting on the dock shooting guns into the distance, and we decided to shoot down a plane. This guy who was your grandfather said the only way to do it was with this old silver pistol, and he took aim into the sky. He hit something, but it was a satellite instead of a plane. You all yelled at me to start shooting. "But I'm out of bullets!" I said. But you guys meant with my camera, and we all took photos as satellite debris rained down looking like snow.
